Doing it again. Dropping the 0.5oz Aurora at 5min since it was too strong last time around. Added a bit of base malt (up to 7lb) because my gravity has come in a touch low the last few times.
Added 2g CaCl, 3 Camden tabs to strike, 1 to sparge
Using some LODO methods with this brew (deoxygenate strike/sparge water, SMB).
All water is RO from Walmart.
Used 9g of bread yeast and 15g of sugar mixed into water @ 85F, then pumped sparge water up to holding tank and left it all to do its thing.
1st running: 1.062
2nd running: 1.032 (batch sparge water @ 80F, sat for 10 minutes and drained)
Mash pH = PreBoil pH = 5.3
Preboil = 1.036 (will do modest boil)
Postboil = 1.040
Put a pint of wort aside with yeast to fast ferment out.
I think I might have not pitched in sufficient yeast, so I am adding a rehydrated pack of London ESB yeast. This is reported to be the same yeast as the 1968 I put in there originally.
Added slurry to fermentor and then poured wort on top, then added 60 seconds of oxygen at 0.5L/min
Krause already fell, Kegged the beer and will attach the sounding valve. lots of sulfur in the thing, pretty stanky. Fast ferment test showed terminal gravity of 1.008, and no off flavors.
Huge sulfur character. Smells all of farts and eggs. Tried to strip it with bubbled CO2 and stirring with copper rod. It helped, but the batch still sucks. I think she's a dumper.
