Talking with Dave Royer we wanted to bring a little insight and discussion about the California Common/Steam Beer. The most obvious example is Anchor Steam beer. A lager hybrid fermented in a costal environment at ale temps. I found a great older BYO article (http://byo.com/stories/item/2123-california-common-style-profile) that discusses the origins of a steam beer. Jamil Zainasheff is the writer who is a excellent beer knowledge source. What other versions have you had? Have you brewed one? What was your process?
